Over the hills and down the road – to the Chicago suburbs we go! With all the shopping, baking, and bustling around, we wanted to share a few of our favorite local holiday events. (We promise these will get you into the holiday spirit!)

It’s a Wonderful Life Pop-Up Bar
Beginning December 6th, Fitzgerald’s SideBar will be transformed into Nick’s – an “It’s a Wonderful Life” themed pop-up bar every Wednesday. The doors located on Clarence (Odbody, Angel 2nd Class) and Roosevelt will open at 6 p.m., with the film screening from 7:30-10 p.m. and Christmas jazz tunes following from 10-11:20 p.m. Cheers with friends to George Bailey – the richest man in town – with beverages including “flaming rum punch,” and limited creations like “Zu-Zu’s Petals.” You’re sure to leave Fitzgerald’s with a heart full of Christmas cheer.
Holiday Magic at Brookfield Zoo
Can’t wait to kick off the holidays with your family? Holiday Magic at Brookfield Zoo begins Saturday, December 2! This holiday classic is in its 36th year with over one-million twinkling lights this year! Highlights include a 41-foot Talking Tree, Santa’s Animals Holiday Express Model Railroad, Santa and Mrs. Claus, Ice Carver, Cookie Decorating and much more! Home for the Holidays in Oak Park
Catch the old-fashioned holiday spirit in Downtown Oak Park on December 16 from 11 AM – 3 PM! Celebrate the season with free horse-drawn sleigh rides, a visit from Santa Claus, and a special showing at Lake Theatre.
Naper Lights
Naper Settlement has been converted into a holiday lights extravaganza with a combination of holiday displays for the 5th Annual Naper Lights. Admission is free (although donations are accepted and appreciated). Visit Naper Lights Thursday-Sunday evenings, now through December 23.
Illumination at Morton Arboretum
See trees in a different light as Morton Arboretum presents Illumination— an award-winning, one-mile outdoor walking tour on a paved path winding through 50 acres of The Morton Arboretum’s celebrated tree collections. Seating, warming/concession tents, and fire pits are available along the route. So are countless photo opportunities. A beautiful way to experience the winter woods brought to life with innovative lights, projections, and music. Open through January 1, 2018.
