Classic Blue: Pantone’s 2020 Color of the Year

“A boundless blue, evocative of the vast and infinite skyline.” – Leatrice Eiserman

As the birthplace of the skyscraper, Chicago and its skyline is world famous for its innovative and influential tall buildings, that literally scrape the sky. The unobstructed view we have from our shoreline and beaches is entirely unique. Our city planners had great foresight in 1837. Their decree that Chicago’s shoreline remain “free from buildings”resulted in the retention of over 20 miles of unobstructed parks and beaches along the shores of Lake Michigan.

Pantone’s color of 2020, “Classic Blue”, was the perfect choice for Chicago artist Michelle Kogan to use in her watercolor of the skyline. It evokes a quiet, calm but cold winter waterfront in what is usually a bustling city. Blending the Classic Blue color with a pale green provides depth and dimension to the beaches that line Lake Shore Drive.

February is the start of the spring home-selling market. Now is the perfect time to prepare your home with a fresh new look. Try painting your walls with the Classic Blue color and combine it with pale greens to provide a welcoming and calm influence. Potential buyers will appreciate the extra effort a seller has taken to update their home. It shows pride of ownership and demonstrates care.
Feel free to reach out to me and I will be happy to visit your home and provide a pre-sale consultation.
